.. 9 x 12 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted today Dec 29/25
.. finally got enough snow to get a few reference pictures

Wow, does that ever feel frosty! The sunlight on the snow and bare branches lights this up! I love how snow quiets all the usual distractions so you can really see the land forms.

Thank you Donna, Jade, and Liz.
Liz, a knife is used in places but mostly brush. I use whatever will work. 😄

Amazingly beautiful form in snow painted with rich variation of colors both on the ground and trees. We're under refreshing but beautiful snow ❄️ storm now so I feel very connected to this painting.

Did you paint any under color or imprimatura on the support before you started painting?

Thank you Grapes. I am not overly happy with this. I been paining florals and abstracts too long and the format of landscape demands more room. I got the values but I didn’t get the spacial planes: too crowed and no room to breath. I do like the color but it’s too packed and I have furniture for a ten room house all stacked in a two bedroom house. I will do a redo. I actually sketched in with a muted green. I then, in haste, started painted without a proper block in. I forgot that I should paint what I want the viewer to see and not the object before my eyes. I plan to remake this one, hopefully today.

I'm finding your breakdowns interesting Wayne and like learning about these aspects and I do also get where you're coming from re content and space. However at the same time there's something cosy about it.. like a little clearing in the woods away from everyone else. 🤔

This path always looks familiar, is it a spot you see when you look out or do you travel away from the house to see it? 👍

Dno,
there are hundreds of logging and cottage roads in the countryside so it's similar but the different ..
