His account of the world in the early 1830's, is fascinating.
The Beagle spent 5 years at sea, exploring and trading.

Darwin was 22 when he set sail upon it in 1831 and his documenting of
events, explorations, observations, scientific analysis and social interactions
is brilliant not only in detail, but in story telling as well.

One of my favourites, here, he describes an earthquake...

"A bad earthquake at once destroys the oldest associations: the world,
the very emblem of all that is solid, has moved beneath our feet like a crust
over a fluid; one second of time has conveyed to the mind a strange idea of
insecurity, which hours of reflection would never have created. "

When I win the lottery, I will fund a team to embark on the same voyage,
documenting what they find for the sheer joy of comparing our world with
that which Darwin so eloquently and bravely gave us.

If and when your lottery gods smile upon you, please make me your ship's cook so I can go along🥰
