If I recall correctly, this was painted during the pandemic when I, and many others in Chennai and India, were confined to our homes for long periods of time. During this period I watched a demo video by Kangan Das, an eminent Indian watercolourist, over and over again and then painted this. It is an A3 size watercolour painting on 270 gsm Chitrapat watercolour paper (rough).

This is a gorgeous watercolour. I can feel the damp air. The subtle reflection in the water are really nice.

This is a beautiful painting.

I love your subtle reflections in the water too and the peaceful feel of the whole thing.

The water is so well rendered and it is beautifully composed. I hope you have this framed. I have been away for several weeks on holiday and am way behind on forums, painting and commenting. (Plus I am rather overwhelmed and exhausted. Perhaps another holiday to “recuperate” ?) There are many things that need my attention at home, and I hope to participate more in September.

Thank you Joy.
A holiday to recuperate from a holiday sounds like a never ending situation 😁
For many years now I have always returned from a travel holiday, a few days before the end of my vacation, just to rest and recuperate before resuming my work.

One never seems to get enough sleep when traveling. And now that we are retired, we are busier than ever!

There must be some truth in that. I am still working. My wife is retired but claims that she is busier than me and therefore tires easily. 😁

You do such beautiful work! It must take a lot of skill to leave those loose washes alone because I always mess with them and wreck them.

Thank you Donna. Though I must confess that it is a lot easier to watch a demo and then paint. I then know when to stop.

Lovely work. I was so thankful I was a person that I has something that I could do from home that I enjoyed. A hobby. Those I know that did not I think found it much more difficult during Covid.

Thank you Christine.
I totally agree with your statement about hobbies helping people to cope with enforced isolation. This is also so very true for people without hobbies who retire after a very busy working life. They tend to age very quickly after retirement, much faster than those with hobbies.

We were already retired and lead a fairly isolated lifestyle, so COVID did not effect us that much, except for not being able to travel. So very true that hobbies and interest really keep one engaged! There is so much in the world to experience, learn and enjoy. Life is a continual learning experience, and the more you learn, the more you realize there is to know! We all know of those who just "vegetate" after retirement, sitting about watching TV all day. That would bore me and would be rather a waste of one's abilities.

I agree re the above conversation. I got back to art after 30 years in the past six months and it helps a lot. I already crocheted but it's nice to draw now too, especially as I'm semi retired and have fibromyalgia. I like being alone (or with hubby) a lot as an introvert so it suits me well.
