Another beautiful one! What do you do with all those paintings? Do you frame them since they are painted on paper? I noticed that so far you have been painting winter scenes, where do you get your compositions from, your surroundings? Hope you don't mind all the questions, I'm just fascinated with your work, especially at how fast you make them. I have a hard enough time coming up with one painting in a year!

One a year. Oh my, maybe after I’m dead. I just store them in books in the basement and when I die someone can toss them. I glean the collection once or twice a year and keep the ones I think work. Of course that changes over time. As for landscapes I go out with my camera and point and shoot. I’ll take a few I think good comp but mostly just shoot from the hip, or the ground. I then use my pc to store them and pick pieces from them that can work on their own. Being the dumb ass I am I delete the photos once I paint them as in hindsight I remember having had years of great landscape shots that could be repainted properly. I still do it. 🤪 I don’t mind the questions, it’s nice to share.

Another winter wonderland! I wish I could poke through the books in your basement, Wayne. You might notice they are lighter in weight after I leave!

Well, maybe I exaggerated a bit on doing one painting a year but painting one a day or even every several days no way.

Have you ever tried selling your paintings? Because in my eyes they are very much salable quality. I hope you at least framed some of them and hanged them on your walls.

Liz, I sold hundreds on eBay and sold in some galleries thirty years ago. I actually got four figures for a few. Low four figures but still. I got tired of the galleries gouging and quit. I do have a few framed around the house.

Thank you. I’m not where I want to be but a whole lot further than when I started. I still need to think. It’s the same with my guitar…some days I can really play and other days I think too much and I can’t.

You play guitar? Me too! At least I try. Years ago I was learning classical guitar but I quit when I was no longer able to see any improvement. I picked up the guitar again after the pandemic and this time I'm sticking with it even though sometimes I slack off. After so many years I can't get past the beginner stage so I'm now trying out styles that don't require the discipline of classical guitar but I still do my classical guitar practice.

That’s cool. I am self learned .. mostly what I get from other old fellows at community jams and on line. So I learned a lot of stuff that was useless. I’m at the point where I don’t care where the notes on the guitar are because I can land safely and if not I can do what good guitarist do. I thought it was all about playing and no mistakes but mistakes are like accidentals in art: they are golden. You just need to recover without fuss and it’s no longer a mistake but a blues note or a bend, etc. etc. it’s just music and if you keep it alive it contains all. I mostly play open chords but in between I travel the fretboard and as long as I retain the beat or melody I can move up or down to where my chord is. Much more simplified than classical. I have a Martin GP4A. Beautiful sound. Today I was playing a version of You ain’t going nowhere by Dylan but I took it to E, F#minor, A, and of course back to E. Real nice metal sound.

You must spend time on scales and triads and jazz type chords. I don’t know about classical but I do listen now and then.
Acousyic guitar and cello played to Irish music is so rich and haunting.
Cello/guitar

Oh I love it! The way the light hits the top of the hill makes it look like a light shining in the darkness. ❤️ ❤️

I'm self taught too. Scales are so boring, I rather learn easy beginner pieces and use them as exercises for fingering and tone. Now most of my guitar time is spent practicing the things I pick up on youtube like Travis picking, and strumming while picking out single notes. I like playing around with basic chords, placing fingers off and on within the chord to come up with little melody lines.

Looks like we have two topics going on in this thread, ha, ha.
