The Fall of the House of Usher

That was interesting! I’ve heard of the “Fall of the House of Usher” but never read it. To be honest I looked to see how long it was before I decided to watch it. Afterwards, I had to google the title to see what I could find out about it. Here is what Britannica had to say with some additional detail not in the video. https://www.britannica.com/topic/The-Fall-of-the-House-of-Usher

One line from Britannica was also interesting: Other scholars pointed to the work as an embodiment of Poe’s doctrine of “art for art’s sake”, which held that art needs no moral, political, or didactic justification. I am not sure that is the current doctrine for art today. It seems like everything has to have a moral, political, or didactic reason for existing.

Founded in 1924, MGM operated under the motto "Ars Gratia Artis", a Latin phrase meaning "art for art's sake"
