Tens of Thousands of 12,000-Year-Old Rock Paintings Found in Colombia

The most amazing things I've seen so far are the "abstract" patterns and designs. Herringbone, zig zags, etc. lots of patterns/motifs simple and complex. I get that they drew pictures of animals, rituals, etc. but where did the abstract designs come from? And how is that we are using many of them today, unchanged from the ones on the wall?

The documentary comes out later this month, and I've already got my seat reserved in front of the TV.

So much of South America, especially Colombia is yet unexplored. They're too possessive about those fields! Interesting doc.
