Sktchy portraits

Last week I signed up for two new Sktchy online classes as they had a huge 2 fer sale. These two portraits are from Joan Martin’s Make Your Mark session. She uses various media mixing them with each lesson. First one of the man is graphite using a carpenter’s pencil, white oil pastels, white acrylic, Uniball 07 ink pen in sketchbook. Second is wax marks then graphite, watercolor, and acrylic marker over paper doily.

Sorry my iPad uploaded them backwards but maybe you can figure it out. Spiky haired man was the first one. Now the third one is intriguing as Joan uses a feather and a bit of thick string to make marks over a white acrylic rolled on paint on tan paper. I'm trying it on a self portrait.

I love these, the style says a lot and 2nd one reminds me of etching techniques. Wonderful!

Love these Kay! They both have lots of character and I really like the use of the doily - I may have to try this
