I had fun with this one. I had planned on making the post a little larger but the bird ended up larger than I expected and I ran out of paper.

He is about 5"x7" in XL Mixed Media sketchbook.

I am doing better than I used to but as you can see, it doesn't always work out as planned. I try to think about where and how large I want the starting point to be on the paper. It helps but....

Good idea. I usually work from inside out with an eye or nose. I try to think about where that feature should be on the page and how large it should be. Sometimes I misjudge a little though.
