#13 abundant ... stuffed animals at claw machine at the mall

Ned, your rock looks good. None of us would know that it wasn't as narrow as you sketched it. I was once sketching Belvedere Castle in Central Park and I had started it from the top of the castle. A boy and his dad came over to look at what I was sketching and the boy wanted to know why I started with the top of the castle. I told him that way I knew the top would fit on the page. lol

Ai, thanks. Love the claw machine with all the animals inside.

Jo, I was going to send you a message. I was wondering where you disappeared to. 19 of you!!! That's quite a crowd. The little ones sometimes seem like more than just one of each cause they are so active. Hope you all had a good time. Photos, please.

Did a lot of sketching today, but don't think anything fits this hunt. We were sketching in the gardens at the Met Cloisters. It is like being in a castle. Will take photos of the sketches tomorrow...my legs are too tired to get up again. Everything there is up and down flights of stairs.

Done at the Met Cloisters yesterday.

I'm late on some comments and will miss a few, but...

Fletch -- I liked your "momma bear" sketch. Those are cute!

Ai -- I liked the view from the hostel window with so much blue in sea and sky... that looks like a nice place. The jumble of stuffed animals in the machine is fun!

Joan -- :) I liked your story of drawing from the top down. So true! Was that a bridge over the Hudson River? I like both of those and they both "feel" like NY to me. I like the colored pencil sketches from the Met Cloisters, especially the last one with people. The clown is a riot of stripes and spots!

Jo -- I was smiling imagining you with 19 in the house. I hope it was very fun and not too exhausting!

:) it's amazing how you see things after you post. I was planning to make the gear shifter in front of the seat quite dark, even left the seat behind it slightly lighter so it would stand out. Then forgot! :) No big deal but just kind of strange how that happens.

Joan: So many amazing sketches in cp. Love the class, the arch, and the couple... and the balloon clown is so good and makes me smiles.

Ned: Thank you. Fantastic giant tractor.

Ned, thanks for your comments. No, both of the bridges I had in the sketches cross the East River connecting Brooklyn with Manhattan and Queens. I like the sketch of the tractor. The wheels always attract my attention. I often have them looking flat so nobody could possibly drive the vehicle. You showed the tread well.

Ai, thanks. I showed the balloon clown the sketch when I was done and she hadn't noticed that I was standing about 5 feet from her and sketching. Once I had her sketched in pencil I moved behind her to add paint and ink to the sketch while I could sit on my stool. I didn't want to get in the way of the crowd around her. Then I added the background and the rest of the people.
