Hi, Ai!
I went out this afternoon and sat in the eating area in one of the newer specialty grocery stores that opened here recently called Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace. They are fairly expensive so I don't do a lot of shopping there, but they have a tremendous amount of merchandise, and a lot of it is Italian. They have a counter that makes pizza, a spot where you can get a pastry and a coffee, gelato, prepared foods, and lots of things you never knew you needed. I grabbed a coffee and sat in the eating area in the front of the store. There are shelves with Italian pottery and plants that separate the area from the cashiers...but they don't spoil the view. I sat there for at least an hour sketching the checkout counters and the interesting things around them.

Ai, I saw the photo of you and Tone at the bakery and I was waiting for a sketch. I think it would be hard to sketch there with all the different aromas and temptations. Good job resisting most of it and sketching.
Ned, thanks so much. I stopped to show the sketch to the cashier who was in the center of the sketch. She had been assisted from time to time by another woman who had stopped and noticed what I was doing. Of course she didn't have a clear view with the plants and displays between us. The store manager came over too. I guess I'm the first one who has sketched there. lol I'll have to check out if I can sit in other spots in the store. They have some great displays.

Thanks Joan, I sketched my drink cup a bit before consuming the entire cup coffee ... Once I finished with the coffee cup sketch, then I came back to do the bread table and cabinet. For this place, the hard part of location sketching is that most coffee tables is quite small.

I haven’t been able to comment or respond to things lately, as I was in panic mode trying to save the SH threads I had participated in with you all…..
But now that I know the threads are safe, I hope to be back to comment and respond soon, hopefully today or tomorrow….. assuming I can get my heart re-started lol

Ai, I do a lot of my sketching with my sketchbook in my lap, so I can usually work no matter how small the area is. Looks like you had enough space.
Pine Cone, I'm so glad you heard the news! It is a relief to know there were members who were willing to take over. I can't imagine going thru and trying to save things from the threads. That's a lot of work. I'm happy we will all continue to be here together in the future.

Joan, wow, sketching Chagall and artists and sculpture! Such a wonderful opportunity. I like the free space sketch with the sculpture, too. All fun. Your underneath was a great find. Love the way you did the tree and fence. Nice you can get out and about now. Giuseppe's is a super sketch. Full of Italian fun and such nice shapes and depth. Applause!

No ads or anything unless you link to something. I've been keeping mine since 2006. You can make it look like a website or just plain. I keep my photos on my computer, but I haven't lost any info on my blog unless links have disappeared. Just a thought. Free storage.
I had my respite day so went to lunch with my friend, Susan. We went to a newish place that I hadn't been to. Cedar's Coppice, I had a gluten free wrap.
I sketched before lunch and after in the car facing the fire station again. I've sketched it before but I didn't want to go far from the restaurant and be late.
Number 3, wagon or with wheels - the fire truck and a Jeep. The Jeep was more purple. I got a new sketchbook from Jennie that is for use with markers. They don't soak through the propylene paper. Interesting, but hard for me to sketch without blending. I was thinking now that I could do the sky with straight line hatching with the two blues I had. I will figure it out. Nice to have the option of not soaking through. So the Marker Sketchbook and Pentel markers. Pages are about 7 x 8 inches. Hard cover.

Jo, thanks! Glad you got out with your friend. Social time is so important! I'm glad you got to sketch too with the new sketchpad. I didn't realize they had special ones for markers since I don't use them much. I love that you sketched the firetruck. I look at every firehouse when I'm passing and the trucks are so rarely outside. I can't sketch them with the doors closed...don't they realize that? lol Good job!
I saved one of my Valentine's Day roses which was now so dried out. It took me a while to get to it.

Ai - Love the florals. The black-eyed susans, as well as the pink and yellow flowered trees. The yellow flowered vine on the wall is lovely. The coffee looks enticing but the other page has such depth of field. Still lookin* to see how you did that.
Robin - It may not be finished but the angel candle holder looks great already.
Joan -Your tree and shrub painting is a snow scene but has a warmth to it that is intriguing. The dunes with gulls is very similar. Kudos on graphite pilling sketch. The museum pieces made me smile as you caught the body language of the other artists. I keep looking at your market painting. Your watercolor shading especially on the white shirt in foreground is impressive as is the pen work. Beautiful rose.
Jo - The hatching on your wall stones is like a how to lesson for me. Ditto the light post drawing using the lighter ink in background. Have fun playing with your marker sketchbook. The fire truck is a great start.
