Scavenger Hunt from Life #183: Feb 14 - Feb 26

Jo - Sorry to hear you are unwell. Look after yourself.
Joan - Gosh look at all that snow!
Is this site closing? I guess Im not posting here enough, I missed that announcement! Have they given a date they will close?

Joan: Wow... with the mountain snow... make a snow man for me pls.

Jo: Get well soon... sorry you got the health hic-up. Rest well and take it easy. Sending you good vibe.

Viv: Great to hear from you.

Vivien, hi! Good to see you. We are hoping this site doesn't close. I hope some energetic soul takes the leap and saves it.

Hi to Ai and Jo too. Hope to get out today...maybe sketch some of that accumulated snow. Apparently the airport near me hit record levels for snow there...29.1 inches. They are forecasting more snow overnight but a mere 2 inches compared to what we have. Wish I was younger and had the energy to go out walking in the snow.❄️❄️❄️

Joan: Glad you are safe despite the white out shut down many things.

Robin: Love your art table, table top easel, and brush.

Joan, cool sweatshirt. The snow is pretty to see! Brrr.

Vivien, good to see you. Guess it will have to be wc unless a miracle happens. My email is everywhere if you google me. jo@jocastilloart.com There is a Joe Castillo, guy artist, that comes up, too. I am definitely Jo. This has been a friendly place for sure. One of the searches with just my name brings up a bunch on facebook, I'm not there, I was banned for ???? All I had there was my art.

Robin, oh, sweet desk and items. Art has been a life saver for us, eh? Hugs.

Ai, hi there. and hi to all ...

I sketched at my computer desk this morning. Number 4 Lime in the big Canson Mixed Media sketchbook with an Ohuhu 0.3

Robin, I love having a peek at your art materials. Love the brush and paints/inks. The desk looks all ready for a little bit of work.

Ai, after a scare about 10 years ago when a lot people did not listen to the forecast and then got stuck for hours on major roads that were impassable from snow, people (most of them) now actually somewhat listen to directions so that they are off the roads and the plowing and de-icing crews can get to work when heavy snow is forecast. It makes a difference.

Jo, thanks. The snow is pretty but there is so much of it and there aren't enough places to pile it up out of the way. lol Nice job on the bottle and the lime juice inside. Looks like your were able to show the condensation on the inside of the bottle too.

Sketched a snow scene today. Will have to count it as a bonus nature sketch.

Joan: Glad that you and Jerry are safe. Love your think fresh snow scene. I think the blue sky is so pretty and make the snow popped up so well. Perfect. Love the easy ink line set.. and a nice big frige.

Jo: Glad to see your art... nice lines. I am scare to hear any of us tales of health hic-up.

Joan - WOW!!~ great dead wood in snow...just the right balance of realism and art. Sweet ice skaters!!!! Love the actions you captured. especially the lady "drag-helping" kid....she looks so earnest and struggling to help....NICE catch!~!

JoC - yeah, thank you dear friend... art touches where nothing else can. Love your lime bottle...all the marks add up so well....Hope your heart smoothes out even.....blessings on you both.

Hi Vivien thanks for the info on Wet Canvas

Fletch....great "aviators" Hey, you have several sketches....YAY!!!! you are not just horsing around!!!

Ned - lovely sketches....the 3 cows are great!!!

SO is there a scavenger forum on wet canvas???
March 6 this site will close??That's right on the door step!!! YIKES.....are ya'll already on wet canvas???
Oh I see Vivien posted about it.....I will go ....hope to see everyone.....

Went to Wetcanvas....so it required a credit card acct information for $0.00 to be billed.....did you guys see and do that???
any way around that....did I just get directed to one of the options somehow???

Robin: If I remember right, we will be looking at "Scavenger Hunt" thread, under the forum "Artworks from Life" on Wetcanvas. I logged in using my old wetcanvas account, 5 years ago... so I did not get to see the credit card questions....

People: please give it a few more days. You all are settled in here and nothing is quite final yet.

And no one is asking for your credit card, either.

Vivien - Hi. Good to see you. Am with you in hopes this site stays.🤞🏽

Robin - Which is your favorite tool? The art table? The paint set? Both well done. Loved the horse pun! 😎 I am with Ai. I logged in under my old Wetcanvas account without a hitch so was not asked for anything.

Jo- Nice hatching the bottle of lime juice. Glad you are feeling better.

Joan I am sure 29 inches of snow and the associated cold are not as enjoyable as your paintings of it. Glad you and Jerry are both warm and safe. Love the ink wash shading.

Hope to draw later. We hare having a very strange winter with more cold days than normal and cycles of warmer-than-normal temperatures between the cold waves. Was in the 80s over the weekend and now it isin the 50s.

Terri’s note sounds hopeful!
Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Ai, many thanks for your comments.

Robin, thanks so much. It was fun to sketch the skaters. Luckily the rink isn't too big so I didn't have to wait too long for the skaters to come into view again. I had an account already on Wet Canvas from years ago when we were there. I was able to log in with no problem so I didn't see any questions or a place to put in credit card info. Weren't you also on Wet Canvas before we moved here?

Terri, no plans to rush off unless they close the doors here. It seems more relaxed here so I hope we can continue.

Fletch, thanks. The snowstorms have given me a change in subjects for a while, and even locations that I've sketched/painted so many time in the past look new with the new coat of snow.

This morning we had a little more snow on top of the big snow. I haven't been out yet today...figured I'd wait until the snow stops. Instead I did a still life and then painted the view out the living room window. That never changes but I like capturing it with the snow on top of it. There was a pile of snow on the patio railing that was about a foot high. It was starting to sag when I started sketching and then a big part of it just slid off the railing. I guess it was my own little avalanche.
