Scavenger Hunt from Life #183: Feb 14 - Feb 26

Fletch, sketching at a car dealership is always fun. There are always cars and people around for subjects. What were they doing with that classic Datsun? I have a hard time doing seated people. It is hard to get the body proportions right. Yes, there is a chance we may have to relocate. I checked to make sure I could still get back on WetCanvas just in case. I'm never happy when I have to change things that are going right. lol

Jo, our group always took a short lunch break, but you end up losing too much time. The good thing was then I had a little more time to socialize. But it breaks up the flow of my creativity. Now I just try to spend a little more time after show and tell to chat with people. It has become harder because now we sometimes have 40+ people showing up.

Yesterday I tried something that several people I know have been doing. A woman in Paris started this group called @drawingisfree_org. On Mondays she offers an hour session that is a zoom group sketching portraits. Other sketchers who are participating that week are the models and the poses last the length of one song (3-5 minutes) so you have to be pretty quick. Luckily the sketch time in Paris coordinates with noon here in NY. We were able to sketch 12 models during the hour. I'll share a few of my sketches.

From last week, I made that posca marker print yesterday. The acrylic ink cracked by the time I printed it, but I think it looks kind of neat that way. Just playing around to see what things look like.... I think this could make something good with more intentional neat lines....

#0 for interest :)

Fletch, yep. Guess it is wet canvas until ??? It all seems to work anyway. There is grumbling between wc and here in the notice. I chose to ignore it.

Joan, your portraits are so good for such short time spans. Wow. And you did them with Neocolors. I think we have permission from our pastel group to sketch. I will ask if I ever get the time for it. Mondays are so hard.

Ned the post marker print with acrylic ink is so good. I love seeing it and the photos. Seems to be lots to think about. Easy for you, difficult for me. Ha.

Ned, I love the blue print. It came out really good. Thanks for showing the previous step and the actual photo.

Jo, thanks. I always have good intentions to participate on Mondays and then end up being out of the house at noon. lol

Robin, I like the comfy looking truck seat in the living room. Nice staggered shelf space with lots of items. The kitchen sketches are good too.

Did not draw yesterday as ended up back at desires after car would not start due to a dead battery. Three hours at the dealers after spending two hours getting it charged enough to start. Wasted day. Plus is it is covered under the warranty.

Joan - portraits are really good. I especially like Caroline.

Ned - the print came out great. I like the look.

Robin - Nice line work as always. The kitchen sketch looks fun. What are the figures on the side? I laughed the truck seat. We use to have a VW bus and took the middle seat out to put my son’s playpen in for long trips. Obviously pre all the new rules but he survived. point is we had the middle seat in the house with an afghan over it.

Jo - guess I missed the notice.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch
