Scavenger Hunt from Life #181: Jan 21 - Feb 2

I didn’t know wetcanvas was still around…..thanks for the news update conserning this forum…i guess it’s hard to get computer folk to do such a big job for free when they would rather make art….

Fletch…thanks you alot for the tips on making digi canvas suitable for online….Very clear directive…you must have been good instructor. My husband had that gift too….he could go to foreign country , not knowing language and get close the people thru his skill and good heart.

Hello all you wonderful sketchers!
👋
I'm just dropping a note in here to let you know there's still over a month before anything would happen here at Creative Spark. In the meantime, all options are being considered in efforts to keep it going.

Just saying, before you decide to navigate to FB or WC you might want to bide your time. ;) It’s not over yet.

Thank you Terri !!! I would love to keep the momentum going HERE at Creative Spark !!! 😍❤️😍

Creative Spark has helped me drop my defenses a little, and helped me through some of life’s most difficult passages ☀️❤️‍🩹☀️

Aw, that's so awesome to hear! It's amazing how the right community can help, isn't it?

Just keep posting and have fun! ❤️ We'll see how things play out.

I agree PineCone. Fingers crossed. WC seems nice enough but so many links, I do like the set up here better. 🤞❤️ it's helped me through a difficult year too and I have felt so welcomed and supported as I started drawing and making art again. Great message!

Terri, I agree, this community has been always been helpful, kind….. always gentle, always encouraging….. in every way ~~~ artistically, and personally ❤️‍🩹🙏❤️‍🩹

I can’t imagine a better place to be, or better people to share time and art with 😂😄😍

❤️‍🩹 Thanks so much….. And I agree, the setup here is just right. Not too much, not too little….. very clean interface, with everything we need to share and enjoy each other’s art and friendship.

And people here have helped me take the next step when I didn’t think I could. And then another….. and another…..

You're right PineCone 🎯 absolutely. I feel bamboozled with links and info in WC but will just bookmark the pages I need if it comes to it.

I'm so pleased to hear how much of a difference it's made to you here. You deserve ALL the good things PineCone and have made my stay here so much better by your presence and love too so thank you for "paying it forward" as well. You're a star ⭐ ✨ ⭐

Looks like most of us will be heading back to Wet Canvas when things close up here. That will be sad to see. This worked so well. I'll have to figure out WC all over again. lol

Jo, thanks for your comments.

Pine Cone, we will all find a way to stay connected. We don't want to lose anyone.

Ned, thank you. I'm never quite sure how to do an area that has so many trees...blurring the background seems to help.

Ai, I'm jealous that you are someplace warm enough to sit outside and enjoy sketching and snacks along the canal. That painting has such a refreshing lovely feel to it.

Robin, cute squirrel. Glad he's got a nut for food. lol Love the fish wine holder. I know you've sketched it before and it makes me smile.:)

Hanging around at home waiting to see if a friend wants to get together someplace warm and sketch for a bit today. I decided not to join up with the NYC sketchers due to the cold weather. The location today involved too much time walking to and from the subway out in the cold. I need someplace where I can sit in my car or run indoors and have a view of something. So I had a little time to grab my keys...

Joan, don’t give up on Creative Spark yet 🙏

Thanks so much, I’m more than a little panicked, and grateful for your calm words ❤️‍🩹🙏❤️‍🩹

I, too have never had a FB account and am not really interested. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. CS is a fabulous site, very easy to navigate and modern. WC still has great artists and moderators, but the owners haven't modernized the site. Still, I am glad to have both, and use both. WC has so many non-working forums and threads it is difficult to use at times. And I still love it! Artwork from Life is the forum that you seek at WC.

Joan inspired me to go back to this Eucalyptus forest today. About a week ago, I made a print from a photo I took at almost exactly this spot 15 years ago. The print was toned using eucalyptus leaves :) Maybe I'll post it here if I get around to scanning the print.

I always tell myself "simplify!" before I start sketching but sometimes get immersed in the drawing and forget. It's almost like I'm not thinking at all :) This looked better earlier but I kept adding to it. Nice place to walk!

#2 keeps you healthy walking through the forest...

Somehow I missed some posts this morning.

Terri, thanks for letting us know we have a little time. Hopefully someone who has some experience will step up and be able to do something to keep Creative Spark going.

Robin, I see you may be having a bit of a weather event down there. Hope things are OK and you are warm and safe.

Jo, as far as I know I still have my account on Wet Canvas. It may take a bit to remember how things functioned there. ;) I don't remember things as well as I once did.

Jade, maybe things will work out here yet... I know for some of us this is really a lifeline.

Joy, it is good to hear that you've continued to post over on WC too.

Ned, great job on the eucalyptus forest! You captured the shape of those trees really well. Locations with so many trees can be overwhelming. Sometimes I think I need someone to come along and remove the pen, pencil, or brush right out of my hand. lol

I met a friend at a coffee shop today for a while to sketch. This sketch has a lot in it. (Suzala always teases me that I include everything.)
18 - made of fabric (jackets) - watercolors, sketch and wash pencil, & ink
19 - made of paper (artwork on the wall)
20 - something with a handle (my cup)
21 - footwear (woman's boots)
22 - opens and closes (computers)
23 - made of glass (hanging light bulbs)

I wish I had more time (does anyone wish they had less time?) to post on this thread and others. It is just so wonderful to have such a great community. I am not on FB or IG, but i don't think it is structured like this, and geared more towards "likes" rather than conversation.

Joan, that is amazing! I struggle to draw one object from life. Outstanding depth and perspective, with the objects in front of you. Very accomplished work.

Joan the perspective in the coffee shop, and the colors, are wonderful. Makes me feel like I'm there!

Here's that print. 9x12" is too big to fit in my scanner so I photographed it. The photo is from February 2012 and the print I made last week is a cyanotype ( prussian blue ) which was then soaked in tea made from eucalyptus leaves to change the blue into warm brown and black tones. Fun!

Robin, oh, love the drunk squirrel! Cool bottle holder and bottle. I'm grinning from ear to ear.

Hi there, Ai. Thanks.

Terri, thanks for the encouragement and info.

Joan, thanks. Hope your intense cold passes quickly. Tonight and tomorrow will be the last of ours for a while. Your keys are amazing. Sigh...... Your Flex Coffee shop is great with the colors, texture and so much detail and items! Yahoo. I need a latte, been a month or more. Wow. I haven't been to wc very much. It is slow and hard to find stuff. I have kept my old self there by looking once in a while. Ha.

Joy, hi and thanks for checking in with your ideas.

Ned, such a great sketch of the path. A great place to walk for sure. Your print is fantastic. You have some great prints with your photography talent. Applause.
