Fletch: Thanks. Wow on the washing machine. I could feel the depth below the tank. Nice ziplock bag with transparent feel.

Joan: Thanks. Wonderful fence with iron works, seascape, yummy plate of sweets. Excellent ziplock idea and execution. Love the green bottle and its label work. Was that a gin type?

Jo: Thanks. Cool trash bins and purple buildings in digi. It is easy to keep forgetting one of the art supplies on trip, right?

Jade and all: Thank you.

Fletch, maybe I'll use your "agitator" idea today...although it is busy agitating right now. lol

Jo, I'm glad I surprised you and Fletch with a different bottle. I went with what was most convenient. The vodka bottle didn't move me. Good that you have the digital program on your phone in an emergency. I'll have to check and see if I ever put it on my phone. I remember trying to use Artrage on the phone, but my screen seemed too small for my fingers.

Ai, what a great idea for pinnacle! Great job!! It is different to see such a modern structure by the river there. I'm used to seeing the traditional and historical structures in your sketches. Thanks. The vermouth gets added to vodka in martinis. If Jerry has something alcoholic he likes a martini because it has less carbs than beer or wine. Beer used to bee his go-to.

Joan, yes. We actually have bourbon, I will try to get a sketch done. Gene likes a vodka martini, too. If I ever have a martini I go for traditional gin. Ai, when folks ask for a dry martini, it means less vermouth. Jim Beam in Bardstown. Kentucky, has decided not to sell this year. People drinking less and tariffs I think.

Ai your sketch of the suspension bridge is great. I think the break in the page got you. I’m smiling. A real bridge in La Paz, Bolivia, had a problem when it didn’t meet in the middle, so your sketch reminded me of that. It had a bump in the middle where they had to adjust the construction.

I found some bourbon. I think Brandon gave it to Gene. Gene usually drank Jack Daniels which is a Kentucky bourbon whiskey so not really a pure bourbon.

Jo: Thanks. That is a very elegant and beautiful bourbon bottle sketch. Love the four roses glass imprints. I remember my mini sight-seeing trip to Lynchburg 1993 while I was studying at Vanderbilt, to tour the factory of Jack Daniel in Tennessee. When the tour guide pried open the lid of a giant oak barrel, and shake the lid a bit... the aroma of the JackDaniel-to-be was impressive. Too bad, I did not do art or sketch back then. Otherwise, it would have been an enchanting factory and town to draw too.

Jo, great job on that bottle of bourbon…so many details. Never developed a taste for it.

Ai, how fun that you toured the Jack Daniels factory.

Typing on my phone. For some reason our internet is not working.

Several new coffee shops have opened recently near me in these unusual drive-thru structures shaped like barns with silos. They were originally little drive-thru convenience stores. They all closed a number of years ago, but are reopening as drive-thru coffee shops. The latest opened on Friday and from the lines today I have to say it is…
12 - trending - watercolors and ink The line was actually to the middle of the next block at times.)

Ai, Gene would have loved that trip to Jack Daniel’s. We did do a bourbon tour in Bardstown with our son and niece and spouses in a limo. I did like the tasting from cheap to expensive small amounts with the stories. Tour was fun. In general I am not a bourbon drinker. I like wine and tequila. Ha.

Joan, what fantastic finds for your Hunt sketches. The refuge is so lovely and the spoon hits the spot, eh? What a fun coffee idea. Trending for sure.

Thanks on my bottle.

Hi Art Buddies - about the above post - 2 - noisy-carrots are noisy to chew
3 - trending- mung beans (in carrot jar)
4 - refuge - in hot water poured over leaves
5 - fungus on dead stump
I just want to say that I consider this sketch a complete success because I just wanted to do something and I am thankful. Really any time one gets to do something it is a success on some level. That's what I love about art.
If you like, what do you like about art?

And this is what yo's look like. To make quilt they are whipped stitched together ....I will probably tack them down to a supporting piece of cloth. It is an Old Timey quilt I've always admired and it takes a looooong time. My grandma had a big one and every yo was from a different pattern!!!

Joan - I think that is what I envy and aim for....letting a day go without a sketch! And what a sweet plate that is.... Good technique on showing plastic....Great job on the green bottle too. Love the purple ink sketches...friendly and simple

JoC- oooOOO...now I got washer envy! Washers are such a blessing, eh.

Fletch - wow, taking plastic up a knotch eh. Really nice.

JoC - love the way you used the digi color and form . good sense of perspective and that environment. Nice bourbon sketch. Using just one art tool too!!! thanks

Ai - magnificient beautiful bridge!!! I think Your sketch gives the feeling a awe and focused pleasure at drawing by becoming being so big!!!

Art Buddies - HEERES HOOOOPIN' YOU GET A SKETCH SQUEEZED IN:);):D

AI - You amaze me by sketching your food first...and in a public too!!! Those always look like you enjoy more than the food!!! Good "catch" on ironworks....such a large view on one little page!!! nice

Jo - Good find on ironwork and clever use of digital. I rarely carry drawing material with me however always have my iPad but no Apple Pencil and drawing with finger never seems to occur to me. Four Roses. Have not heard that in decades. Was a common whiskey growing up but do not hear it mentioned any more. But I mostly drink wine and when I drink whiskey it is scotch. Excellent pen work!

AI - Great pick for pinnacle. Jo noted it the real in the page got you.🫢 breakfast looks delicious. Sniper for ironworks was good thinking. They are works of iron.

Joan - you switched. Was looking to see how you handled agitator in echo. Nice ink work especially like the hand. Knew you would get to a beach for refuge. LOL Drive thru coffee seems like a low profit high work effort. Well done!

Robin - Good finds. What I like about art is twofold. I like trying to capture what I see well enough to make it recognizable and more so enjoy that meditative feeling of loosing track of time while focused on creating.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Jo, I've never toured a distillery. I've toured wineries and the Heineken brewery.

Ai, your breakfast looks delicious. I'm usually too hungry to stop and sketch my food. I like the sketch of the ships on the river. Good job!

Robin, fun page of sketches. I like your smiling carrots...I guess they aren't aware that they will be chewed. The yo's look like hair scrunchies. Are they that size or bigger. The quilt must be quite textural. What a great idea. I hope we get to see it when it is finished. Thanks for your comment on my sketches.

Fletch, thanks. I had the spoon in the sketch already and decided it was a good agitator. lol The washing machine will have to wait to be sketched. I used to be a scotch drinker when I was younger, but then switched to mostly wine. I do still enjoy a nice scotch once in a while.

Had one of those ah-ha moments when the light comes on. I have commented many times on color adding life to a picture. Today I was read a book on color pencil and they focused color choice on choosing the right temperature. Think that while I realized graphite can imply color variation thru shading, temperature is what color really adds to an Image. Graphite cannot capture that element. It is probably fundamental but I just realized today how much temperature of color adds to images

Checked off learning something new today. 😎

Fletch, it is always good to learn something new!

We had a light dusting of fresh, white snow overnight. It made things look clean and pretty. I headed over to The Grange in Sayville and sketched the view looking out of the park.

Robin, Jo, Joan, Jade, Fletch, and all: Thank you for your kind support.

Fletch: Love the "Color temperature" concept. This past X'Mas, I bought a CP workshop course for Iris, she enjoyed it despite it was only 3 hours intro. Her instructor is kind and promise me to post how to make shading samples on various brands of CP. So I hope to her post of that on FB soon. I notice that she is always kind and post CP trials and tips on her FB often for public for Free.... That is why I suggest her class to Iris.

Joan: Love your free space... the light and long shadow gave warm effect despite it is a winter scene. You did super on it.

PS: I am back the first day to faculty... embracing a new semester starting in a few days.
