Ai, your golf outing made me laugh. Excellent gestures on the golfers. Yummy waffle for sure.

Fletch, hi. Wow, beautiful jar/bottle. The shape and shadows are so nice.

Pine Cone, aww, the ducks are fun and cute. Well done!!

Joan, the place is so peaceful. Love the dramatic sky. Your structure has such great lines. Love all the detail with the cars, sign, etc. Applause.

I sketched on my footstool this morning. Joanna went to a friends wedding and they brought me some of the flowers they didn't use to sketch. So pretty. Hope to get them in pastel. White is difficult but a good challenge. Number 1 flower in the Conda Sketchpad with Micron 02.

This is a bit of the upper floor of a home. I loved the way the gigantic trees (¿poplars???) cast shadows on the textured wall and the dark windows, so I quickly sketched the home and made notes. Later, I added color and essence.

(The home was in front of me in my mobile studio. The trees were behind me, a little to one side, and the sun that created the life of the shadows was behind the gigantic grove of trees.)

NOTE: I never use the Procreate features that stabilize strokes, straigten lines, or round out circles for the artist. Also, I never use the grid overlay that Procreate offers. However, those are valid artistic tools, and I don’t wish to discourage their use.

NOTE: My personal choice is to sketch, draw, and paint in ProCreate with brushes and erasers. I do NOT paint into “selections” or “masks”. If I stray outside of where I want to be, I erase.

Joan, beautiful. I always like how you do fences.

Pine Cone, Oh, love windows and this blue one is perfect. Nice texture with the shadows.

I'm smiling for being here. Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate. I missed Canada's in October, but thought of you in the North.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Even if you aren't celebrating the holiday I know most of us have many things to be thankful for today. I am so thankful for this community of supportive artists that surrounds me. Enjoy the day!

Pine Cone, the window looks so great against the texture of the building. I love the deep blue in the window.

Jo, thanks so much!

Ai, it looks like your turkey came out perfectly and you've got all the side dishes to go with it. I hope you enjoyed it.

I don't have to cook a turkey since we are going to Jerry's sister's house for dinner. I did make a few mini pies (mini so we wouldn't have too much left over). Making them smaller is more of a challenge than making the regular size one. I did buy a turkey for us and tucked it into the freezer for another day since we like turkey so much.

Oh, look at Ai's turkey. Yummy looking and perfect for today. Have a happy turkey day.

Joan, thanks. Jennie is bringing turkey and sides. Joanna making a birthday cake, we celebrate Jennie's birthday today. I got pumpkin and pecan pies with real whipped cream. Our grocery makes delicious pies so I didn't do my own this year. I'm having some of the real cream in my coffee, amazing morning!!

I'm in the UK but happy Thanksgiving for those celebrating today and I too am grateful for you guys (amazing turkey and picture of turkey Ai, you and Jo are making me hungry!). 😋 Also lovely to see your work and notes, PineCone. ❤️

Pine Cone - The ducks are well done an adorable.👍🏽. Leave it to you to see the shadows on a building and window. Nice job.

Joan - So serene. Great sky. The detail in the pen drawing is great. Still fall colors! Beautiful.

Jo - The flower is so pretty but all I can do is imagine the pastel version.

Ai - Your dinner looks delicious both in the photo and your rendering. Hope you all enjoyed.

I am cooking Turkey but just the breast which is still too much for just the two of us and dessert will be the crown. Order a Junior’s Cheesecake. They ship it frozen from Brooklyn.

Thanks to all for getting this little art oasis going.

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Thank you all: Pinecone, Fletch, Jo, Joan, Ned, Robin, Jade and all. I hope everyone have a pleasant time with family and friends around this Thanksgiving time regardless of where you are.

Fletch: I wish we got the smaller turkey breast to bake too, but our supermarket importers stop carrying the smaller size turkey. They only carry this 11 lb. pre-cooked one. Luckily, we have four in our family, so we shall finish them in due time. Great thing that it came pre-cooked... so I only thawed it and re-roast in 2 hours in the oven. Tone and I tried to educate Iris and Lily about the US. Thanksgiving. The girls grow up here in Bangkok and go to Thai regular schools, and might not clearly imagine how this is such important time in most US. families. Here, there were another option of order cooked turkey meal from many western style restaurants ahead too but I was busy with works and It was too late to order from those restaurants. They mostly asked you to place order 4-5 days before the Thanksgiving day. Anyway I am very grateful for all of us here...Love you all.

PineCone: Wonderful magic window.

Joan: Gorgeous fall colors peeking thru the fence. Fantastic waterscape. Nice structure with cars and people.

Jo: Lovely delicate touch on the lilies.

Jo, sounds like you have dinner all worked out. Have a good time and wish Jennie a Happy Birthday. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Fletch, Happy Thanksgiving to you and Sharon. Have a great day. Enjoy the Junior's cheesecake. I haven't had one in a long time. Looks like that sweet tea will quench your thirst. Nice shading! Thanks for your comments.

Jade, you can celebrate Thanksgiving with us. I'm sure there will be enough food!

Ai, thank you. Is turkey a common food in Thailand? I'm surprised that you were able to find it precooked. When I was teaching years ago I always taught my students about the similar holidays or ways that other countries also celebrate a kind of Thanksgiving or harvest time. It is amazing that it is such a common theme in holidays around the world.

I feel like my Thanksgiving pies are Momma pie, Daddy pie, and Baby pie. The largest one is in a Pyrex glass dish, the middle one is in a 5 in springform pan, and the little one is in a 4 inch springform pan. The biggest is a pecan pie and the two smaller ones are blueberry (requested by Jerry). All that is left right now is the tiny blueberry pie and one slice of the pecan pie. They were both...

Joan: Thanks. Yummy and cutie family of pie sketches. It looks like you and Jerry had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner. Well, ... No--turkey meat is not common here in Thailand but there are some number of expat community in Thailand, esp. Bangkok. So there are enough demands for western style supermarkets to sell turkey meat briefly (but not many choices... like they don't carry the smaller size turkey breast no more) ... I had lived my life for almost 10 years in the US, having a few host families, plus now my in-law family there. So I feel connected tightly with American way of family celebration...plus, I think Tony will be happy to have turkey here too... LOL. Also it is a great way to show Iris and Lily of such tradition. In Bangkok, you can get a fancy turkey dinner buffet for Thanksgiving/Christmas at many 5-star hotels too... but that costs super expensive.

Jo & Fletch: I am glad you all have a wonderful easy Thanksgiving time with families.

Fletch: Grade shading of the tall cup of tea.

Thanks for the Thanksgiving invite Joan! Ps I picked up some Caran d'ache watercolour wax crayons in a charity shop recently, getting used to them and have used a few of your pictures as practice references as watercolour. They come out nothing like yours lol but good to play! Ai - I prefer your bottles to the pic! All - sending love!
