Scavenger Hunt from Life #172: Oct 05 - Oct 17

1 underleaf of geranium
2 rock with texture
3 curtain folds

Can you see the bit of purslane I snuck into the pot to accompany the geranium?
Hope everyone get a sketch in today👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩

Pine Cone - trying to accept that was 9 years ago. LOL. A well done tribute to Mr Cooper. Never tried to photo a star trail but loved the sun trails Ned did with homemade pinhole cameras.

Robin - Covered in RL I understand and art is a great escape. Love the curtain folds! Have you ever eaten purslane? Last year or so I have been reading sporadically on nutrition and read an article about the nutritional value of purslane and that it is eaten in many parts of the world.

Keep sketching and learning

Fletch, thanks. Will try to sketch. I'm not doing Inktober this year. Maybe a couple if the hints fit the Hunt.

Pine Cone, good for you for working on your iPad. The kitchen sink - star trails is so well done. You nailed it. The association made me smile, too.

Robin, your geranium made me grin. It is a great drawing. My geranium has no leaves now. I think it is finally gone. It hung on for a long time, no flowers now. All the wildflowers are gone from the drought. Your folds in the curtain are great. I see the window, too.

Joan, the texture in the old all and arch doorway is so good. I love the trees , buildings and benches. I feel the sunshine. Thanks.

Hi to all the rest of you. Ned safe travels.

I paid a visit to the Artist House along Bangluang canal with my art friends...
....
I start with an association below

#1 nest --> storage --> moving storage---> vehicle -->boat --> solar cell on the roof - tourist boat. ...

PS. The tourist boat move away from us too fast ...lol...done in pencil+ wc, about 5x7 inch

Greetings from Crescent City California.

Robin -- always fun to see your sketches with different colored inks.

Joan -- The colors on the doorway above the canal are great.

Ai -- :) I just give up if the thing I'm trying to sketch leaves. The tourist boat is fun. I like both the flowers but the orchid is gorgeous!

Jo -- We were thinking along the same lines today. You left a good amount of "windows", well done.

I remembered these cypress trees at Battery Point, so I thought I'd try a silhouette. When I got there, I realized I'd left my brushes in the motel room... but I had my water brush. Sorry for the poor photo balanced in my lap.

#1 From my 4 wheel drive studio, ink, a touch of WC, and black inktense pencil.

edit: :) now that it's posted, I forgot the lowest foliage. I knew something was off! :)

Ned - Cool silhouette. Funny how you can look at something a dozen times even turning upside down but we have to post for some things to show. Your silhouette looks great and without the photo we would not have known some foliage was missing. Call it artistic license and move on as it is a cool image. 👍🏽

Thanks, everyone!

Ai, the boat makes me feel like getting out on the water. Nice!

Jo, I love the tree silhouette. It look like it should be a metal sculpture.

Ned, great job on the tree silhouette with the lighthouse behind it. I once left my brushes in our apt on one of our Venice trips. I ended up painting with a twig and my fingers. It worked.

5 x hair (sub for vine tendrils) - watercolor and ink

Ned: Thanks. Fantastic drive and thanks for giving us a great enchanting silhouette of the glorious big structure on the hill.

Joan: Thanks. Fantastic hair curls and her loved one, and the majestic Venice water vista. I wish I could be there making arts with you.

Fletch & Jade & all
: Thanks.

I made another stop at the Artist House, studio along Bangluang canal again...

3 - “rock or stone with texture” - moon (about 95% of full)

— virtual sketch
— freehand……. I never use the Procreate feature that straigtens lines, or rounds out circles for the artist. Also, I never use the grid overlay that Procreate offers. However, those are valid artistic tools, and I don’t wish to discourage their use.

— iPad Pro and Apple pencil
— Procreate app

— My Re-Learning to Draw Program - review of Phase 1
(lines, circles, and ellipses)

——————————

tl;dr (too long, don’t read)

Another attempt to re-learn drawing ellipses !!!

My previous sketch should have had a warning label to wear protective eyewear while viewing lol 😊 Hopefully this one will feel more peaceful for you all 🙏😍

In fact, this one will benefit from turning up the brightness of your screen, to better see the depth of the “blue” night sky, if you want…..

Sketched on Wednesday evening, a couple of days after the full moon, so it is at about 95% in this sketch 🌖 (a little over 24 hours ago).

The stars are random because the parking area I sketched from was drenched in tall lights and the “light pollution” obliterated the stars that might have been visible from a more favorable location.

Ai I wasn't sure if the statue was a real person covered in paint or not to begin with lol! 🫣 Great job!

Joan -Clever sub on hair for vines. Hair and whole vista beautifully done.

Ai - Cp and watercolor seem a good mix. Well done red uncle! Love the wicker chair. The lady duck shading is well done. She looks like a good mare for Joe1’s Donald. Do we get a food report on coconut custard and mango strips as they look good enough to eat.

Pine Cone - Beautiful!

Keep sketcing and learning
Fletch

Jo, thank for joining me in Venice.😊

Ai, fun sketch from the cafe! Love the duck and your creative substitution. These made me smile. What is that giant pod from?

Pine Cone, awesome sky!!!

Fletch: Thank you. Both the mango and the coconut custard were good. ;-)

Joan: Thank you. The giant pod was given to me a while back. I save it on my art room shelf.
