Scavenger Hunt from Life #166 July 25 - Aug 06 2025

Fletch - the mug is so demure and tentative....a great sketch with so much feelings!!...thanks!

Joan - I am with Fletch when he says your commentary on the pull to catch the sketch was a fine treat - AND then you did get that crowd sketched!!!! Too cool....Thanks for the positive :love:envy

JoC - what adorable tissue boxes...Sketching them is good idea. I been finding the coolest labels on stuff and sketching them is great way to save. Other wise I would be spending alot of time trying to soak off labels!!!

PineCone-really good to see you dropping back in!! Love the swallow nests. Nature is amazing

Ai - loveing all the awesome watercolors with a capital W!

Jade - Hi- hope you get a few more sketches in....don't be overwhelmed by our verbous buddies in here...No worries, but the comments and conversations are enriching, no doubt about it.🙂🙃😉 Good vibes all around.
Thanks for thinking of me Robin. ❤️ I realised I'm less of a sketcher and prefer doing more animals and slower drawing so I'll post that elsewhere on this site instead but I love this little group and the chats too so will pop in and cheerlead too. 🎉

Jo, just read your ‘feeling older’ comment and want to say for last few years I keep telling my GP I don’t have much energy. He grins and says we are getting older. Beginning of the year it hit me I was going to be 80 in a few weeks. I weighed in at 206 but when I was on active duty I was 185. So researched heart healthy eating and we went on Mediterranean Diet which my cardiologist had pushed. Started mid-January. By the end of March I lost 10 lbs and feeling a bit more energetic so decided to up the exercising. Walking is recommended exercise I started early April at 3000 steps and am up to 7000 which is a healthy level to maintain. I can’ t leave Sharon so I use a treadmill in the guest room. I am now at 190 and have more energy than I have had in years. I go for my semi-annual doctors appointment towards the end of the month so will “see where the numbers are” then. That’s my GPs comment reviewing blood work.

Sorry to go down far off topic.

— It’s true that there are other good categories for your work here. But I’m gonna miss seeing your animal sketches on the SHs. Did you know that you can cross post the same image in more than one category here??? It would be so wonderful if you would post your animals and slow sketches here ALSO, if you wanted to.

People post images here all the time that are complete watercolors, complete pastel paintings, that are slooooow and/or complete drawings, etc. The fun, kind-spirited people here have taught me that they just want to see each other’s work.

Thinking back to this exact same event that used to be on Wet Canvas (for 700 events) I’ve gone entire YEARS only doing sloooow drawings, and sort of paintings in some cases, and posting them all on these SH events.

Oh dear, I’m out of line. I enjoyed your work and your friendly vibe, and may have gotten a bit attached to Bob….. but I shouldn’t be asking you to stay….. we each have our own path and muse to follow…..

Be well, and have a great art journey, wherever it leads…..

Fletch — We cross posted….. wonderful to learn that you’re doing well, and feeling strong, and the changes you’ve made to bring that about. And I’m grateful that you included those details. Just the inspiration I needed today, and I appreciate your words. Thank you, thank you, thank you 😊

Aww thanks PineCone!.. Bob and I appreciate that! 🥹 And I think that's why I'm still here from my side. It's a nice little gang here. ❤️ I have fibromyalgia and sometimes get a bit of brain fog with tracking messages at times but i'll keep checking if any of my pictures fit in with the SH and pop up when relevant then! I've just starting a new thread in the "drawing" thread too. Here's a pic of the little fella peeking out from the stairs last week for you 🫣...

Fletch - Well, welcome to the 80's! Its not so bad when you get used to it, and yes exercise is definitely the way to go. Ive got a Smartwatch which counts my steps and a dog who gets me out walking every day, so Im very thankful for that!

Robin - love that loose hatching and the contrast with the numbers so precise.

Jade - As you must know you and Bob are always welcome. Remember the list is not a hard list of requirements but suggestions so associations are always welcome. Say the list has “something thin”. You could the say thin - whisker - cat- Bob and then draw Bob. We just ask when you use associations you let us know your sequence.
The cottage is adorable and the portrait very good. The hair. Shading is very good as Robin noted.

Vivian - thanks for the welcome. Am getting use to it as it beats the alternative plus I have a 93 year old sister who still calls me her baby brother.😎

Keep sketching and learning
Fletch

Hi, Ai, Joan, Jo, Robin, Pine Cone, Jade and Fletch - I enjoyed drawing from life again! Every so often I just need to draw from life, and I wish I had more time to do that.

Ive got some sketches done
1. - Curved - Berry Jam with a curved label and writing
2 - Round - jam lid
3. - Flat - lid of jam lying flat on my table
4. - Wet - Chilli Pear Sauce in a bottle
5. - Dry - bottle the Chilli Sauce is in (I see my bottle of sauce has a bend in it! Sorry about that, I never noticed until I posted it)
All in pen and Watercolour

Vivien - I love this style and the colours you used. 👌

Fletch - thank you.. I feel very welcome here and thanks for the feedback, I enjoyed drawing both but especially the mushroom house! Appreciate the info about associations. I've just finished something so I'll post shortly.
