Scavenger Hunt from Life #156: Apr 12 - Apr 20

Have a little time now. Between trying to get things back in closets after the construction work here and a banking problem, time has been limited. Someone stole a check I had mailed, washed it and tried cashing it. As a result our checking account was frozen and we had to open a new one. That comes with all sorts of things to do, agencies to be contacted about the new account, etc. I still have work to do on that...

Fletch, I taught in Arlene and we went to the beach there as kids. The little cottages are gone and things are a little different there now. Fun and different bird sketch! The doll is really nice!

Jo, thanks, Nice quick sketch of the trees.

Robin, cute birds taking over your kitchen!!

Ai, nice nature sketch and tree! Glad you stopped to sketch.

4 - gooey (We stopped for lunch after spending quite a bit of time at the bank the other day.) I quickly sketched the BBQ sauces on the table. I was fairly sure it would be my only time to get a sketch done. Came home and painted closet walls instead of doing artwork.

Joan: I sorry to hear that there are many things that took your time and energy at the moments. I hope you can get all things sorted out under control soon. Sometimes, that is the side of life we wish we had not have to go thru but you did well with jabbing at a small corner of time of your lunch at Smokey Bones. The lines came out great. and the delicate pattern on the tray is very lovely... plus many nice hand patterns on the menu. Great job.

Oh, Joan, what a mess of paperwork on top of the redoing of the ceilings and walls. I feel for you. Love the Smokey Bones sketch.

Joan - Our thoughts and prayers are with you sorting through the paperwork resolving the checking issue. Nice line work on the condiments and menu.

Ai - I like the soft style of the garden. It is relaxing to look at

👋🏽👋🏽 Jo, Ned, Robin. And all the lurkers👋🏽👋🏽

Thanks for your words and support. Things will work out eventually. :)

Jo, your desk drawer looks pretty neat. I saw it earlier on my phone, but it was such a tiny image I couldn't see everything. It's much better on the computer.

I did get out to sketch a bit today. Didn't get to take a photo yet. Hope to do that in the morning.

Tone and I briefly explored a French theme cafe in Bangkok downtown, this morning ... I wanted to sketch everything but...not enough time...Hope to visit this place again...The place name was "Balzac Cafe"...I wrote the words down wrong on my sketchbook...Uhm !!!

#9 Rolls -->Rolls Royce --> luxury ride --> Concord --> Air France Concord model

#10 Another version of doorway of Citron car model ...pardon my wonky car perspective

Ai, what fun sketching at the cafe. We used to see quite a few Citrons in Chile. Haven't ever seen one here. You captured the sleek lines of the Concord. I wanted to fly on one, didn't make it. Great forms and fun. Thanks for the memories.

Joan, beautiful trees. Wow. We see redbud trees in the area but haven't seen any close and the flowers don't last too long. Are those cherry blossoms?

Back later.....

Jo, thanks. I love when the cherry trees are in bloom. I'm waiting for the magnolias to be in bloom. They're just starting.

I'm still organizing for the painters, but I did get out for a little while this afternoon. It was a really nice day.
6 - easy to find (the daffodils are everywhere right now) - watercolors and watercolor pencils

7 - inspires me (Tulips that Jerry bought me for Easter.) - watercolors and a yellow Pitt artist pen

Joan, wow the daffodils are so beautiful . I like the dark in the leaves and stems. Really sets them off well. The tulips are so special. You really captured the vase and water. Mmmm.

Baseball and life got in the way today. Try to sketch tomorrow.

Joan those daffodils and tulips are great!

Sorry I"ve been MIA this hunt... hopefully things will get back more normal soon. Today my wife drove me to a baseball game on the local campus... afterwards I remembered where a water spout was next to a small lake and started to sketch it, but she arrived to pick me up before it was done. I drew in the last few lines and did all the shading from memory this evening. I've seen this make a huge gush of water, but it didn't do it while I was there today :) One kind of funny thing... I was carrying the folding chair that I had at the baseball game, so I had a nice comfortable place to sit while sketching :)

Happy Easter, everyone!

Jo, thanks. Have a great day!

Ned, I love the water spout with all its mechanical additions.

Joan: Wonderful Easter flowers. Love both yellow and pinkish-red flowers. I am smiling.

Ned: Well done on water spout. That hardware parts look challenging to me.

I also posted this humorous link in the "Art and Humor" thread. My thoughts went immediately to all of the talented sketchers that post here; I hope it gives you a chuckle. This "article" is from The Onion, a satirical site. The title is -

Joy pretty funny. I sketch in public but mostly things and not people.
