It’s kind of sad to see the healthy pines in the background but I agree they are beautiful in every stage. Where would painters be if they couldn’t add a dead tree or two at the edge of a forest for contrast?
 
A side effect of the salted roads here is that some coastal plants are starting to grow along roadsides quite far from the shore. On the other hand, the footpath I use to get to work has bare earth on either side of it and looks awful.

I've been afraid to open this thinking it might be gory. Like salty roadkill kind of gory! 😂

I agree that it's hard to look at these dead evergreens along the road. They likely fare better in winters with less snow, and we've been pounded in the north/northeast, and of course Nova Scotia is practically part of the US New England area.

Your usual ability to warm up a cold scene is on display here - it's glorious. And I agree with Kay, the light is part of that warmth - beautiful!
