Radishes

I sketched in the placement of the leaves as soon as I set these up because they wilted so quickly. Mixing the reds I needed was kind of a fun challenge. I used a photo to do the leaves when everything else was done but I tried not to get too detailed with them. oil on paper, 7x9in.

Very well done, the radishes look so 3d, it's like I can pick them right out of the painting

Donna, the radishes are EXCELLENT
I like the softness you have in this painting. The thin roots that come out on the other end of each radish are perfect. I like how things recede to distance. Green and red tones together are so compatible. Everything is so well done. Just love this piece!

Grapes, thank you so much! I am trying not to mess with the board/dark strip at the bottom. I had a nice level line at one point but it got lost so I'll just say it's a rustic cutting board. At one point I got a surprise violet when I was mixing colors. I liked it so I put a few touches of it in the background and along the bottom. I hate to waste paint, haha.

Donna, Grapes said it all. This is just stunning! This should be framed. The composition, colors and the textures are fabulous. I especially like the leaves. The variety of greens and different shapes are very convincing. They look so thin and flexible, almost fragile, like the real thing.

I often click on interesting threads, but time does not permit one to comment on so many of the fine works here. But I just had to stop and comment on this! And I use up every last bit of my paint (watercolors), letting colors dry on the palette and re-wet them in a future session.

What a lovely painting, Donna. It looks like kind of a dreamy realistic scene. I think the focus in the centre and then getting a little more blurry towards the edges mimic our eyesight. It makes it look sooo realistic, like it’s just right there…. Fantastic!
