This is my copy of Raphael's pope. It's an oil painting on canvas, size 64x52 cm.
I call it done bc l need to move on to another one. Lots of paintings waiting to be finished.

This old master copy was difficult to get done and I already had given up several times but kept setting it in front of me meanwhile forgetting earlier efforts. Still there are areas that could be improved but it's wise to stop at some point.

Master copies are so difficult, our own work is so much easier. It might be bc the Old Masters were so talented and had so much more knowledge that most of us don't even have (maybe some do). Anyway, it's a lot of learning! Thanks Jade!

I can’t stop admiring the work on his hands!

In the beginning I had the focus point on his face but I think in the end the focus is in the hands. They just turned out so light and the white cloth also leads eye there.
Hubby says the focus should be in the hands because of the stones there. He likes stones and collects them. Although, I still wanted the focus on his face.

The lower hand should also be better done but at that point I got tired. It has some odd purples there, maybe I fix it another day.

I'm waiting for the sun to appear to take better photo. We've been covered by clouds for too long now.
