I though neither. Educational maybe.

I do think that when that would have been presented as video art, without the backstory, nobody would object.
Makes me think of fractal art, that is also produced by a computerprogram, though the parameters have of course been set by a human ( but isn't that in principle the case here?).

But yeah, try to define art....
