My Beach

[Balaji]

This is a watercolour sketch on 8.5" x 5.5" 250 gsm Canson Graduate grained paper.

I live right next door to this beach. When the December 2004 tsunami struck the South Indian coast, this beach was hit too, and the waves crossed the road that you see in this sketch several times. I was at home, blissfully unaware of what was happening outside.

How fortunate to live so close to the water even though it can be dangerous. Lovely painting of this scene.

Nicely done Balaji. I like the simplified figures and the variety of color on the grass.

Thank you Anne. This "grass" has a very short life. But, during its short life it provides a carpet of flowers. In a few weeks it will get scorched by the sun, wither away. So too the tufts that you see. They come off and roll in the breeze like tumbleweed.

What a lovely scene! It must be wonderful to be able to have it nearby to get scenes like this. Beautiful and serene.
