My 2025 daily do-art project

Hi folks, well it's a bit topsy turvy as I'm back in Stockholm for a time without all my art gear, but hey. The travel was stressful as we brought our half wild cat on the plane...omg. Went ok but so stressful.

I have decided to force myself to not rust out during Scandinavian winter and instead make a challenge to do an artwork each day. I decided that I will make a minimum of an ATC each day. I will also still do some larger works etc. I will do a few pleinairs weather permitting and they will be counted. There may be days I do two pieces when I know it will be impossible to keep to my challenge.

I forgot just how short the days are and how grey it can be up here so I hope this gets me through.
I will attach the atc's to a 50x70 canvas as a record, so about 50per canvas.
Today I will make a start by priming some 300gm WC paper and cutting it into cards.
It will be oils, gouache(just purchased) or pastels as I could only bring minimal materials with me.
Well, happy New Year all, hope your art goes well.

Happy New Year to you too.

That's a worthy challenge. I made the same proposal last year and succeeded for a couple of months, until life kicked in with extra demands and started to miss every other sketch...

Anyway, I think it is a great time to be on Stockholm. We stayed there last year's Christmas to stay with our son (he was on an ERASMUS+) and we absolutely loved it. So many wonderful places and opportunities for Art. I would have stayed plein air in many a location had I been alone, even in spite of the weather (do I sound jealous? 'cos I am).

Let us know how do you go around, and maybe we'll be enticed and motivated to join your endeavor.

Sounds like a good project! You learn a lot by doing dailies.
I'll be painting daily paintings in January and hopefully can include one or two pleinairs. I've already signed up to a challenge on Internet. You just gave me an idea to think about to continue with dailies in Feb. I just might.

Thanks grapes and Txomsy, yes, I'm sure life will kick in, but I've just got to do something while up here in the snow. Damn it's cold.
First off the rank... 12x15cm on pastelmat

Hi Txomsy, I got so used to Croatia, I forgot what it's like here in winter. Quite cold this year. I plan on walking around the lake etc to do some snow scenes etc. I need to dig out my cold gear if I'm standing painting.
I realized that larger works will go in as usual but ATC being small allow me some slack to sneak in a painting before someone lumbers me with "work". Good luck.

That is great! I seldom have spare time, so I settled for B7 or A6 notebooks (approx. postcard size) so I can always carry one in a back pocket of my jeans and a leather pouch with four 5.6mm clutch pencils (graphite, charcoal, sanguine and stump) in a front pocket and be ready to draw anything any time on the go. That has become my main vehicle for sketching lately.

BTW, love the cold, arid, dry, sunset? landscape you started with. Strongly emotional, I would say.

That's a great one to start this project, Murray! Maybe it's good that you won't have too much time to fuss over details - just get down the overall feeling and go. I look forward to seeing more!
