Marundeeswarar Temple Festival - Drummers

Every year, in March/April, we have important temple festivals when the temple deities are taken around the temple in a procession. Along with these processions there are also some other cultural events. This is a 20 cms x 15 cms pen and ink sketch, done with a flex nib pen, inspired by a photo taken by by my wife of a street performance by traditional drummers.

Well done! It brings the drum solo in the '60s song, "Wipeout" to mind, although I suppose the drummers' beat was not quite so fast!

The tempo of their beat varies, but it does not become frenetic at any point. But it is quite loud even without any electronic amplification.
