9 x 12 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted 15/07/25

I was eating cherries and dropping the pitts and stems on a paper towel .. when I looked down I saw an organized mess of seed and stems and it caught my attention as the towel was stained to help with the pattern. I got up and dropped a few cherries on the mess and volia a new painting came to be born. I tried gesso on the reverse side to top the paper from bulging and going out of shape but I have now stopped putting gesso on the reverse side of the paper. The paper bulges out when painting but once dry I put it between two ceramic tiles and it straightens out very well. The bulges are not great to work around but they don't stop the process either. So far, this is 5 and I do miss the ability to mix piles of paint into different hues and values. I do a lot of mixing on the paper now.

Aren’t these kinds of unplanned compositions the best, Wayne? It’s so good that you took advantage of this one because you made a nice painting! I like the touches of green in the background too.

Thank you Donna. Love them as they are pre done and need no thought process. The green is the balance for the red.
