I did this for a challenge. Pastel on watercolour paper( not the best fit). I was going to do her in watercolour and changed my mind. I just find it boring. I know it would have been a lot better on pastel mat.

Sandra, this is not boring! The beautiful light on her head and softness of the snout is excellent.

I think this is a beautiful portrait! The texture of the paper seemed to work so well with the pastels, especially since it doesn’t have much tooth. Have you ever used clear gesso on watercolor paper? It adds a little tooth but I know Pastel mat is really nice. The whiskers and eyebrow hairs catch the light so delicately!

Sanlynn, this is wonderful 👍 😊
Good crop of things. That green 💚 color is my favorite. The dog jumps nicely from the surrounding area and colors. Very pleasant looking painting, also.

Thank you, Donna. I have not even heard of clear gesso but will look for it and see how it does. Thanks for the suggestion. You have really good observations skills to notice those whiskers.

Thanks for the encouragement, Grapes. Next time I wouldn't use the watercolour paper with pastel though.
