These seem like your usual style with extra details, which I like Wayne. Particularly #1.👌

Thank you Jade. The style is me as I am who I am but the extent of drawing on the abstract is more in each progression. Slight it the first to about 80% in the second. That is the string that pulls me on to the next piece. The idea that I can create rather than copy a visual representation whether it be a photo of a real life set up. To put a mark on a surface and expand that mark with more marks so it becomes a visual of it's own birth rite. It was born of labor and not thought. I find that interesting.

I like these colour choices a lot, Wayne. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about what you are aiming for. I find that so interesting.

Yes, thanks for sharing your thoughts, Wayne. Creating rather than copying is harder than it sounds and you aren’t afraid of the unknown. Both are wonderful but I love the pink zingers which you used in the second one. They bring a lot of energy to a still life. Are they actually the underpainting? If “zinger” isn’t the correct art term please enlighten me.

Thank you Bethany and Donna.
Yes Donna, they are the first layer. I apply paint with a knife and then start using or losing my first impressions. I actually got the zingers or ribbons by accident at first and then decided to add more and use them. Creating with acrylic is tougher than oils as you don’t get as much freedom with lifting and scraping but I guess it makes up as you can overpaint without mixing on the support if you wish to.
Bethany, the color seems to be key to unification. Hard to put a handle on it but it develops with the process of adding shapes by using hues to compliment or force separation.

Its interesting hearing your thoughts on how you painted as well as the end results Wayne. And Donna - I like the term zingers!

One day I think I got the bull by the horns and next day I'm on my back wondering what possessed me to think I actually knew what I was doing. To make matters worse, I keep going. Yes, Zingers is good.

Hehe.. I think when we are the kind of people that like learning, this is how it goes right?! 😅 I think you keeping on going is doing the right thing Wayne, for sure ✊

I really like that first one and the second has some very interesting "quirks" that make it fun to wander about in. ❤️ ❤️
