Jaybird - Inktense

This painting started with a light line drawing in Inktense in XL Mixed Media sketchbook and then added the color. The painting is about 9"x8".

I should have gone a little darker with the line work because I lost the definition of the feathers. I may go over the feather lines to bring them out a little better.

I agree, it looks great Anne. It's interesting to see your experiments with lines. I think what you did here works well for your jaybird.
 
Very nice, especially the blending of colors and the subtle shadow under the feet.
 
Good point about the shadowing under the feet Joy. 🤔 I struggle with that so good to see what you did Anne.

Jade, I always like to "ground" animals and people when I paint them if I don't have a background.
 
Yes that makes sense Anne. I was trying to do that with my dog the other day in hindsight.i like the way you subtly shaded.

Love the way the Inktense colors brighten up with water added. I think the lack of outlining on the feathers softens the bird and makes him more real. ❤️
