Imaginery birds at the Marina

This is a work that didn't work, so Ive just become increasingly experimental in media and concepts of the birds I had wanted to paint.

I'm enjoying putting pastel into dry to touch oils.

Many many thanks. I tried very hard, probably too hard, to create my desired image. Then I said ... you know *** it, and did the thing I wasn't allowing myself to do. It was pretty terrible before I did this step. Perhaps this is why it takes me 10 years to finish some paintings! This one is almost 4 years old.

It did go "WHAT" after I'd put the orange. Then I did 2 more in the same colour. I'll look for my planning sketch. There is very little resemblance.

Love these close-ups. These are beautiful works in and of themselves. Really stunning!
