Usually, I don't do sketches for my painting or drawing ideas. Most often, I sit in front of a blank page and simply do it. Sometimes, I sketch ideas on the go when I travel (to be interpreted later or not). In this case, the sketch came after the painting.

I really like these and also how you describe your process. I enjoy drawing animals and cute things but have a hankering to do more self directed work and have found the work you've posted inspiring me in that direction. I dream a lot so plenty of fodder there too!

The painting is really evocative. It would be interesting to hear about the related dream too if you felt comfortable sharing. No prob if not 😊

So happy to hear it! Can't wait to see where this road will take you 😄
The beauty of dreams is that there is no wrong way of drawing them, which I find very freeing.

The dream in question was about the destruction of the world as we know of. A team and I were tasked with solving a clock puzzle, which, once solved, would save the world. During the mission, time and space were gradually melting into each other and changing the perception of reality. We succeeded. Once the puzzle was solved, a sort of explosion happened, where everyone's souls were taken into the sky to become stars.

Thanks mys0

How interesting! Thanks for sharing your dream too. Is that where your user name came from? I've always dreamt a lot but much more of a mish mash of memories and random weirdness! I like the idea of using them in art though. I often use chatgpt to decipher them too.

Thanks mys0

I think the best way of capturing dreams in art is to choose a specific scene or feeling to depict, rather than the dream as a whole. A mish-mash of memories might be useful in this case!
When I used to attend art class, the teacher made us do this great exercise, which consisted of the teacher reading a short book and us having to create 1 image for the story. Limited time and a lot of information forced us to choose quite quickly what we wanted to draw, and didn't leave time to overthink. I highly recommend this type of exercise! It's very fun and easy to reproduce at home with audiobook videos on YouTube 😄
This exercise is a great way to train what type of information you want to show in your work and learn how to concentrate on specific elements to convey a specific meaning :)

As to my user name, it mirrors the idea/feeling I want to share through my art. I leave the rest of the meaning to your own interpretation ;)

Ooh I like this idea, thank you. I have saved what you wrote to give this a try. I'm fascinated by dreams so this is a bonus. 👌 I've been drawing animals but I do like abstract, dreamscapes too, just getting into it but this is a good gateway in... Thanks again

I like what you said about your user name.. ✨

Thank you! ☺️ And very happy to hear you'll give it a try, can't wait to see your results

Very cool and thank you for explaining how this painting came about. It seems as if you are very comfortable in translating your dreams into painted images.
