To celebrate Creative Spark’s onward journey, I am starting this fun challenge for everyone.
It was suggested by our member @john at the news there was a new team taking over the site so it could continue on. It is happy news for so many of the members here.
His suggestion is too good to pass up.
I think Bob Ross would have approved!

Medium: Anything and everything!
Style or genre: Your choice. We want to see what you come up with! It can be a simple little drawing, or anything you want to try.
Length of challenge: This is an open challenge for as long as anyone wants to contribute.
Subject: Here is the sweet post that inspired it all…We are calling it the Happy Little Celebratory Tree Challenge.
Have fun everyone!😁🌲🌴🌳🪾🎉🎉

I have a large acrylic painting at home that I decided to finish digitally for this challenge. My health doesn’t really allow me to physically paint much anymore. Especially a painting this size. So it’s been sitting here for years about 90% done.
My artist friends suggested I should try some digital art. But I would need to upgrade all my technology. Mine work fine, but are now deemed obsolete for security updates and current digital programs. So I cannot use them. I have an iPhone to use.
Here’s what I came up with.
I thought it would be nice to flip this piece from daytime into a nighttime scene. I did some tiny drawing in my photo program to the photo of my original. I had AI take that and I specifically added a night sky and tweaked lighting/shades that I wanted in the water and the sky. Most of the image is my own.
Then I had to add fireworks for fun!
I still really like doing art the traditional way. But I do think it’s wonderful what people can do digitally. It will be my first mixed originial /digital piece.😁
My happy tree!

This tree is so much fun, with all the fireworks and the nighttime light! Love the colorful reflections on the water.

Terrific job, Christine!

Here is my happy little tree - I broke out the oil pastels for the first time in about 4 years. Can you tell? 😅 I did this on tinted Mi-Teintes paper, which has always been a little too textured for me, but worked just fine for this little scene.

I like your tree just fine Terri! She’s a cheerful tree. I have never ever got the hang of oil pastels. So you get full marks from me on that one.. I can feel the sunny heat of the day just looking at the dark shadow of the canopy!🙂

Christine, I love what you did with your tree! How cool to mix digital with traditional to get those wonderful fireworks effects! The reflections are beautiful!

Terri, your happy little tree looks great and it’s so good to see your oil pastels in action again!
