This is an approximately 5.5" x 4" ink and wash sketch using a newspaper photograph as reference. I used a flex nib fountain pen to do the ink sketch.

Wonderful action piece with just enough information. My fave part is the subtle difference in line of the net behind the player that shows he is hitting it and really adds to the depth. Approximately how long did this take?

I tried to stay faithful to the newspaper photograph, with regard to details and also colour. But I did take the liberty to simplify the background, which I felt was too busy and cluttered. I took around 20 minutes to do the netting, about 10 minutes to do the rest of the ink sketch, and another 10 to 15 minutes to add the colour washes - in all around 40 to 45 minutes.
