I think it looks like something from the 19th century but it's also kind of timeless. It's really special, Wayne, and the lack of facial detail is my favorite part. It reminds me of The Absinthe Drinker by Degas ... that unfocused stare.

The style is a sawoff of early Impressionism especially Russian art. Always liked the simplification.

Always liked the simplification.

It brought the Belgian painter, Rik Wouters, to mind for me.
