February Water Media Challenge 2025

Thanks, Anne. I have a tendency to stir up the layers underneath. Using one stroke and a lighter touch would be better, so I have to practice that more.
The one thing that I like about Inktense is that previous layers don't dissolve as easily but it handles differently from regular watercolor. When I'm using regular WC I have to be sure I know what I want to do and that the previous layer is completely dry, then add my new layer and stop. If I try to "work it in" too much, lower layers begin to lift.

Richard, I missed commenting on you abstract. Your interpretation is really interesting.
I’ve been working on this off and on for a couple of weeks. I really wanted to add more light and make it a little more abstract. It has turned out looking like a patchwork quilt. Oh well, I’m calling it done!

I used my Tombow water based markers in my Canson watercolour sketchbook.

Thanks, Joy. It was a lot more work than I initially thought. I have a hard time getting too abstract, I really wanted it to be more so.

I'm sorry for my absence in this thread. I have been dealing with some health issues which seems to have worked themselves out :) I thank you all for your excellent contributions. @Sanlynn I do love your interpretation of the Icelandic mountain landscape. The patchwork is really interesting to look at. I think watercolour lends itself well for these types of scenes.
@ams what a wonderful Blue Vanga (I didn't know the name of the bird). I'm particularly impressed with how you managed to show the form of the head.
@Joy The bike rider painting really manages to convey the sense of speed and the turning of the wheels.
I will see if I can come up with another contribution before the month ends.
