Evil Paint , Help !

There are other media you can use to mix with oils to speed up the drying time and the consistency of oils, like Liquin, but it makes it more transparent as well. This is good for glazing or layering. It absolutely makes it dry faster, though. I use it a lot, and also Gamblin Solvent-free gel medium. That will take a lot of the "waxy" stuff out and make it smoother but use these very sparingly. You should experiment with these first.

Thank you , yes I will most definitely experiment to try and find what best suits me ! My layers are now hanging wet because I have increased the density of the medium . I also noticed that a thinned down layer softens the underlayer and is also a bit ''mottly'' in effect .

Sounds like the underlayer could have still been a bit wet? Only surface dry, perhaps. I bet, had you dug you nail into it, it might not have been dry through and through. For what you're doing here with thinly painted layers on top of each other, Liquin is the rescue. It would probably dry them by the end of the day.

Thank you, I will look at purchasing some different mediums . I am considering linseed oil next which I have worked with before in house painting .
