Don’t know if there’ll be a Dog #2

I’m curious about how you abstract things, like your dog, so that they retain their “dogness “ without looking like you are painting a portrait of a dog. The girl has a wonderful pose and expression!

I think retaining the dogness happened because I used shapes, colors, and movement that would remind someone of a dog’s personality. It’s easy to make an abstraction if your subject is moving, too. You can draw it quick before it moves and have a crude likeness.
