This is technically a drawing, but I almost posted it in the Contemporary forum with my other "Dans." This is also not the greatest photo. I don't have it anymore, so I can't take a new one, but I made it on a 20-inch square birch panel.

Forgive my asking. How do you treat and seal the panels?

I use five coats of Universal Wood Sealer that's made to take both water based or oil-based paint/media. In between each DRY coat, I give it a light sanding with at least 450 grit. I seal both the front, back and sides, but don't give the back a bunch of sandings. I just seal it with a thick coat. The fronts and sides get thin coats and sandings.
