Current project: Dinner for 1

At the moment it is a pastel plan over a geometric acrylic abstract that wasn't working. Colours and tones are just suggestive, but I'm thinking about blues and yellows as focus colours.

Jennie, I like the lines of the flower. Maybe you don’t see it, but I immediately did, and I hope you don’t mind me saying so, but it’s not the colours that are suggestive. I find the left figure is phallic in appearance. Sorry, just one of those things that sometimes you see, and you cannot unsee.

I love your colors and shapes! You always capture a nice sense of movement. Will you be staying with the pastels or move back to acrylics?

I noticed the phallic shape, too. With the curvy flower, I thought it might be deliberate - it's certainly provocative. It doesn't bother me a bit.

Yes, that’s a very good point. It could be even a little bit ironic with the title. If that’s your intention or if you feel that could work, you can definitely go with it. You can definitely play with all the shapes and the colours and line to the deemphasize that phallic look if you desire. All kinds of directions you could go.

The phallic shape works for me! Perhaps the title should be Lunch for 1. In my young days lunch was gay slang for a penis.

I guess subcultures and their associated jargons vary slightly across the world. Some other amusing examples of local gay slang, which even has a name, Gayle, are Hilda (hideous) and Christina (a gay man who attends church).

I almost got rid of the red. Then, saw it when I was a different frame of mind.
