Crow sketch in watercolor

I did this a part of a challenge on another forum. This is a watercolor, 5 x 8, in a Handbook Journal. I bought it ages ago before I decided to use only cotton, and did not expect much from it. Also, it is only 95 lb. It held up better than I thought, for this sketch of the crow. Much better than Canson, but still kind of splotchy. Limited palette of Cadmium Yellow, Quinacridone Rose, and Pthalo Blue.

I'm with Donna. I like the looseness of this, and the colors you chose are perfect! ♥️

Wayne, so kind of you to comment. Your exquisite paintings are missed. It feels like an a part of CS is missing. Every year or so, I dispose of a fair amount of paintings, like this sketch. One can only keep so much and I have a digital record of them.

Lovely sketch! The crows around me are very much darker (almost black) with a light neck. But their proportions, posture, and the way they look sideways at you, with a tilt of their head, is exactly as you have painted this one.

Balaji, thank you! Our crows are black, too, but I wanted to try to make the darks more colorful.

Nice sketch Joy. Good proportions on the bird. The loose style is done well.
