Turkish president, Tayyip Erdogan has proposed restoring the mosque status of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, a sixth-century building at the heart of both the Christian Byzantine and Muslim Ottoman empires and now one of Turkey’s most visited monuments.

The site has been a museum for quite some time... one of Turkey's most visited sites... and an UNESCO World Heritage Site, It was originally a church... one of the most important works of the Byzantine era before the Turks conquered Constantinople (thanks to the Venetians). Erdogan is a far-right-wing idiot pandering to his conservative Muslim base.
