Thank you Christine. Too free flowing for my liking. It works as an abstract but it doesn’t offer me anything to hold on so I lose interest quicker than I should. I was going to dump the whole idea of following my series to it’s end or opening but I think
I may have found the next piece. I’ll take it to the Easle tomorrow and see if I’m panning for gold or just sand and pebbles.

There’s lots of room in abstract for more “anchoring” if that’s what you desire. I hope you’ll try all kinds of things. I look forward to seeing anything you come up with.

Christine, my block described. I need a lot of represented suggestion to form things to open the mind to what is and isn’t. Your jog reinforced my desire to shuffle the deck and paint what I like to paint instead of forcing my thoughts of what I thought abstract really is. I can work with abstract as long as it bends to me and not me to it. I’m not sure what you call what I am presently doing but it fills the hole of wanting to paint something I like. I’ll post tomorrow what I did this morning as I like the paint to settle before I photo it. I feel I have taken over the thread and if others feel the same please ask Terri to move me off to some corner where
I am less intrusive.

That’s great to hear Enyaw. There’s absolutely room for you in the abstract universe. You don’t have to follow anyone’s trends.
You’re not taking over this thread. I was hoping we’d have more interest. But I’m very glad you’re here and you’re taking this to heart. I like to broaden people’s idea of abstract or art in general, and what they can do. Besides exploring and taking new leaps, it’s about finding your way and pushing forward and seeing where it takes you.

Well, this will be very good exercise for your mind. Sometimes it’s good to push in areas we do not find at all easy or that comes naturally. It may be rough at first, but you can improve. I have definitely found that in my own life and my own work.
I do feel like there’s a ghostly element to this piece. Or the artist is saying something about the scene. Maybe something about time and change. Or even about the artist himself, changing his mind. Or art.. what is acceptable? The possibilities. What to leave in or what to take out. About the act of creation and choices made. Possible alternatives.
I like that you call your journey the yellow brick road. Yes keep following it. Already seeing that each piece is quite different as you explore.
That is the key thing about abstract that I really love. You can be standing and go in any direction. And find something different.

Yes, what to leave in or out. The background being quite abstract and the flower and vase based in reality. As I left a ghost of a woman the painting held its own as a painting and not a painted reality scene. Had I put the woman or hinted at a real woman, I feel it would have converted to a painted scene and not a painting. Matters not to some but I like to think I make paintings that are original.

I have bowed out of this thread as I got enough to add to my way of applying paint. It was a great experience and multiple lessons on how I want to paint. Thank you Christine for hosting the challenge. I hope others will join in.
