Another first for me: a painting of flowers. I attempted to show the glowing oranges and yellows bought out by the ray of sunshine backlighting the flowers on an otherwise overcast day.

My usual alkyd oils, using glazing to create a stained glass effect in the grassy background and the petals.

Size 600 x 600 mm.

Beautiful! I love the light through the petals, and the texture in the light part of the background.

Wow, you get such beautiful, glowing effects with those alkyds! I like the textured effect of the background too.

Thank you again, everyone. I think I have had my fill of bright colours for a while! Back to greys and blacks for me.

This is beautiful. Lovely glazing . You really have achieved a transparent ,
stained glass effect.
I use Winsor and Newton Griffin Oil Alkyds when I paint too.
Cheers,
Patricia

An intensely beautiful bloom! And I like the way you integrated the sky with the horizon. Fine work on this one.

I'd like canna lilies a lot more if they would stay in place, but they are absolutely determined to spread in my zone/climate.

Thank you so much for your comments, pcj, Jo, snoball, Joy, and laika. Your comments are appreciated.
