This is another one that started abstractly as a color mixing and palette knife exercise. I tried not to over-define things but I probably should have stopped earlier. It's hard to leave the abstract-ness alone! Mixing neutral grays with a limited amount of colors could entertain me for hours. 10x10 acrylics on watercolor paper

Excellent. I'm trying to think of something that could improve it. I got nothin' :) Well done......again.

That's one thing I haven't tried yet......the knife with acrylics. I just always think oils with the knife. You show that it can work very well.

Wayne, Arty, John, Bart and Grapes: Thank you for such positive feedback! I'm just messing around, trying to find what works.

John, I am learning that the knife keeps me from putting in fussy details from the start because I tend to drag my hand in the wet paint, even though the knife has an offset handle. Since acrylic paint dries so fast I've been using some regular colors and some of the Golden Opens. When they mix together they all get a little extra working time.

You are so good! This soft, neutral palette is gorgeous. I think the knife is agreeing with you!

That touch of pale blue is perfect. I really like Golden Open, too - alone or in a blend, they act like an extender, don't they? Such fun.

Terrific painting!

Terri, If I can get a splotch of color in the approximate right place with the knife I'm good with it! I'm really liking combining the Opens with regular acrylics - the results are less sticky and there is time to adjust edges before everything dries up. Thanks so much.

Hi Donna, I thought I had commented, obviously not. Really like this. Loose and the colour combinations suites the subject. You can feel the cool wind.

Thanks Murray. I’m hoping that this looseness will help with my pastel work. I still feel like I over-define everything.

Love the simplicity and mood of this one. Blustery - yes I get the feeling of a windswept rocky sea side cliffs.
