After sketching this jay in ink in sketchbook I realized he was too fat, so have cropped bottom part and added pale watercolor washes in quinacridone gold, ultramarine and mint julep.
 
Looks like your lovely jay is enjoying early morning sunshine, chipper fellow!
 
Nice idea to make this such an interesting piece, Kay! Lovely wash colors. I don't work with ink, so it's interesting to see how readily the watercolors went over it, no runs or disruption of the lines. Neat!
 
Nice one, Kay! It's always amazing how much the energy changes when you add washes of color.
