11 x 14 inches .. acrylic on paper .. alla prima .. painted Mar 12/26 .. b & w reference photo I took . I might mention that the photo was color but as I am prone to do I made it mono and used the mono for my reference never looking back at the color photo as that only makes me want to copy and not invent along the way.
Here is the photo I took and as you can see I take a lot of artistic license when I paint. I am a firm believer that you don't paint a photograph, you use it as a reference on which you build your painting. They have copy machines that can duplicate a photo.

Another great one Wayne. The light and color on the snow is really nice.

Agree with you about the photo copy thing.

I really like seeing how you interpret the photo, Wayne. You manipulate the light too so that we are guided through the painting. Changing the trees in the back to white made a huge difference! So beautiful!

Astounding work. I generally love your winter landscapes, but this one is exceptional.

Thank you to txomsy. I guess if you get the required learning quota, every now and then you get a winner.

Love it! Donna noticed what I did about the background trees. Flicking just a few of them white like you did here is just one of those details that really elevates the whole thing.

I like the blue shadow in your photo, btw. But your composition is much better. Agree completely about converting the color to mono; then your palette is your own.

Yay!!

I like the sun breaking through just around the bend, in fact, I like the painting better than the photo. :giggle: ❤️ ❤️
