below is my rough block in and then the b & W of the finish work .. change a little but not a lot .. I let the painting dictate ..

Another nice one! How do you decide which colors to use for the block in, Wayne? Do you mostly aim for neutrals?

Wayne, excellent continuation for the garden theme. The rough block is very good! Something very balanced, perfect shape's study. I like those!

I use whatever I have left over from the day before. I make an an almost black dark and then I use three other values from let's say a scale of 1 to 5 I use 2 3 4 5 .. I don't use 1 (white color) as I leave 1 for highlights. If I have not colors my dark is a mixed black of Burnt Umber, Ultra Blue, Crimson, Hooker Green .. I don't use the yellow as it's too light for the darks.
