Autumn Light

This is loosely based on a stand of trees at the edge of my neighborhood. They always put on a show when the afternoon light hits them. Keeping the foreground kind of vague was a challenge but I didn't want to draw too much attention to the area. I won't be around for a while because I'm having wrist surgery next week but I'll try to check in when I'm able. 16x20 oil on canvas

Nice piece Donna. Great depth and a atrail to lead it. Colors are nice. All the best with your operation. You’ll be missed.

Exceptional landscape! It's like you want to step into this painting and feel this landscape. I like the atmosphere, distance softness and calm colors. The front grass is very well done.
Donna, you're very talented landscape painter. I hope your operation goes well ❤️‍🩹 🙏

Thanks Wayne. I wish the photo showed the light on the trees better but my photography skills are not the best. I just want the surgery to be over with so I can hopefully use my thumb again.

Thank you Grapes. I’m so glad the feeling of the place came across for you. I looked at foregrounds done by painters I admire to see how they made them “there but not there.” My surgeon paints too so we usually talk about art more than my hands.

This is just gorgeous. Wishing you the best with the surgery. Take care of yourself, we will be here when you can check in. Hugs.

This is beautiful. 👌 i like what you did and said about the foreground. All the best for your operation. ❤️‍🩹

Gorgeous. And it almost has a watercolor look to it. I think the decision to keep the foreground blurred was a good one. Good luck with the operation Donna.

This is lovely Donna. I hope your surgery goes well.
Take care of yourself.

Thank you John and Patricia. John, my first attempt at the foreground was awful but then I mushed it all together and it looked better.
