Animal And Wildlife Challenge Dec 2025/Jan 2026

Joy, your panda is adorable.
Grapes, nice work on your lioness. I like the look of the oils on the texture of the canvas.

Joy - I love your panda ! He looks so happy !
Cheers
Patricia

Grapes - Fantastic lioness ! It is very interesting to see how the painting progresses.
Cheers

Joy, Jade, Anne & Patricia, thank you for your comments!
Wip "Lion and Lioness". Was working on lights. I have no idea how to paint animals and esp. cats but I try something out. There's not only white but also yell. ochre and burnt umber mixed to white in some areas where the light is not so obvious.

Maybe I should add his tail 😉 moving towards the lioness .. there's space for it. Lion tails are kinda cute.

You have done a wonderful job on this Grapes! I like it how it is but you could add the tail too. Well done 👌👌👌

Grapes - Beautifully done work on the lights ! Thanks for showing us these WIPs
and for telling us the colours that you are using, it is very interesting.
Cheers
Patricia

Jade - Lovely raccoon ! I like his expression and you've captured his fur perfectly.
Cheers
Patricia

Well done Jade. I like how you handled the berries: leaving them out of focus works well to bring the bandit forefront.

Grapes, what a great creative idea (which I never seem to have) to paint both cats together. Wonderful start.

Jade, adorable raccoon drawing.

Thank you Joy! Yes, I agree with you about Grapes doing the duo.. v good idea. I might try that.

Haha. Thanks Wayne. I noticed recently the detail Joy puts into all her work.. the panda's bamboo for example. But I get your point. Thank you. I'm feeling a little burnt out generally as well so trying to just have fun. I realise it's always the animals that I enjoy the most.

You detail 3 or 4 berries and the viewers eye will add more detail than you could. Spend time stepping back and looking and your eyes will tell you when you have enough.
Also, It’s a good idea to step away for a while because when we as artist get too intense our work suffers. When we take breaks we allow our selves to refresh and not take things so seriously. Perfection is only a dream.

Very good points Wayne. Thank you. I get in the flow for an hour or so and notice I like coming back after a break and looking with fresh eyes. Ok.. release perfection again lol 😄 appreciate your input as always.
