Animal and Wildlife Challenge Aug/Sept 2025

The reference photo of the coyote is quite stunning, Patricia! Hope to see your drawing/painting of him.

I have still one more drawing done.
"Koala", 2B mechanical pencil on sketch paper, koala size: 13x15 cm.
Kinda unfinished but this paper quality doesn't allow me to work more on him.

Grapes Your little koala is so beautiful. His expression is so cute and his fur is really well done.
Cheers,
Patricia

Thank you for such wonderful references! I have been away for several weeks on holiday and am way behind on forums, painting and commenting. (Plus I am rather overwhelmed and exhausted. Perhaps another holiday to “recuperate” ?) There are many things that need my attention at home, and I hope to participate more in September.

Thanks Joy. Hope to see you in September.
Cheers,
Patricia

Here's my 'tabby cat' sketch. My idea was to find color for her fur and describe speed. In the ref photo I'm seeing more movement and a slight turn in her body. I don't think I was able to paint those yet so would be nice to be able to try again maybe for the next sketch.

This is an oil painting on paper. Paper has some big "branches" visible because it's a strong paper made in Sri Lanka out of elephant poo, completely odorless of course. Got it as a souvenir. Added gesso before painting.
Size: small.

I LOVE this Grapes! Somehow you've captured the speed and fur so well. 👌 Interesting about the paper! 🐘 It worked well. ♥️

Grapes. Fantastic painting. You have captured the motion. I love the colour
and his expression. Elephant poo paper made me chuckle , I had never heard of this.
Cheers,
Patricia

Thank you, Patricia!
I suppose paper made in Sri Lanka is recycle based idea and that way good for nature and climate in general. After all there are big quantities of elephants in the area.

That was a good idea . We need to do everything we can to to recycle and help nature and minimise climate change.

Patricia

Anne, thank you for your comment.
Patricia, so true about recycling & climate.

We're already in September! I start Sept. by posting my painting of the squirrel.
Oil on paper, same paper as previous one.

Here's my attempt at the coyote. I've started a woodcarving. It's still a
work in progress. I'll keep posting as I do more work on it.
Cheers,
Patricia
